St. John's Model UN

WHSMUN has been invited to attend Saint John's MUN Conference on October 25th! People of all experience levels are welcome to sign up, so if you're interested in getting into conferences, this would be a great place to start! For those of you who plan on attending BOSMUN in February, this would definitely be a good way to prepare as well.

There are a total of 14 committees being offered at the conference this year with a wide range of topics (topics being discussed in parentheses):

  •  Security Council (Crisis in Ukraine)

  •  San Francisco Conference (Creating a “Security Council” (1945))

  •  Historical NATO (Cuban Missile Crisis)

  •  Historical Security Council (Suez Canal Crisis (1956))

  •  POTUS Committee (Iraq War Crisis (2003))

  •  Delian League (Actions to be taken in Regards to the Persian Empire)

  •  The United States Senate (Government Shutdown)

  •  African Union (Ethnic Violence in the Central African Republic)

  •  Arab League (Conflict Resolution in Post-Revolution Egypt)

  •  International Atomic Energy Agency (Nuclear Proliferation)

  •  Economic and Financial (Developments to Aid Economic Crises)

  •  Special Political and Decolonization (Continuation of Peacekeeping Forces)

  •  World Health Organization (Disease Mgmt. in Developing Nations)

  •  Disarmament and International Security (Role of Drones in Modern Warfare)

Important information is as follows:

  • Location: St. John's High School in Shrewsbury, MA

  • Date: Saturday, October 25th, 2014

  • Time: 8:00 AM (registration begins) until after 4:00 PM

  • Cost: $25 per person (subject to change, checks will be due soon, stay tuned for an update)

  • Breakfast and lunch will be provided by Eric’s LaPatisserie of Worcester

***It is extremely important that you are committed to paying for your spot as a delegate to the conference if you sign up.*** By signing up, you are reserving a spot on the delegation for you specifically. Supplies and lunch are ordered based on the number that we provide St. John's, so we are required to pay for the entire delegation regardless if all the delegates show up or not. Backing out at the last minute would not be fair to rest of your fellow delegates, so make sure you are committed to going if you sign up. If there are any issues regarding payment for the conference, be sure to talk to me in private and we can work something out.

To sign up, fill out the Google Form by next Wednesday, September 24th with the necessary information here:
